Engineering technician's work is more limited in scope and application-oriented than that of scientists and engineers. Most employers prefer to hire someone with at least a 2-year associate degree in engineering studies or technology. Opportunities will be best for individuals with an associate degree or extensive job training in engineering technology. Overall employment of engineering technicians is expected to increase at an average rate through 2015.
